A new gallery has opened in Housatonic MA. Located at 151 Front Street with its entrance on Meadow Street, ARTsModerne is situated in an intimate setting measuring 9.5 feet by 11.5 feet exhibiting an eclectic assortment of both contemporary paintings, prints, photography, text-art, box-art, collages as well as a collection of unusual vintage art.
On exhibit now are the small oil paintings of Bob Cronin (Falls Village CT) who is able to squeeze great atmosphere out of simple arrangements of objects/people; and the somewhat abstract drawings of Franco Pellegrino (West Stockbridge MA) who uses life's situations both high and low as the true source of inspiration for his art; also the whimsical box-art-new/art of Sherry Steiner (Housatonic MA) as well as the art of Alex Zenger (San Francisco CA) whose fresh avant-garde approach to painting is influenced by city living, Amy Cohen Banker of New York City with her tantalizing mixed media art , William Miles Cary (Sheffield MA) and his penetrating portraits, works of Dr. Charles Semowich (Renselear NY) and Bob Balonge (Alford MA) with his colorful constructions...
ARTSModerne is also the world headquarters of the Artists & Writers Alliance Internationale which is dedicated to bringing artists of all genres together from around the world who are interested in collaborating. The return of Le Petit Musee which originally began in Housatonic in 1992 and left in 1998 now has a new home at ARTsModerne in a former ironing-board closet measuring 11" wide by 74 inches long and 4 inches deep! This will most likely be the smallest art gallery in the world (at least)...
Le Petit Musee had its inaugural exhibition with an opening on March 15th featuring the very small works of Amy Cohen Banker from New York City and the Berkshires. The exhibit will run until May 3rd.
